Despite the original estimate of the highway opening on October 31st, WSDOT is now saying all lanes on SR 104/Ballinger Way NE will reopen by the end of the day on Friday, Nov. 7, following the installation of a 24-foot-wide culvert that carries Lyon Creek beneath the state highway. Work has been occurring 24/7 since September 4th for 8.71 million.
Sewer work on NE 185th Street and 35th Avenue Northeast will continue for much of November with overnight single-lane closures. We've reached out to Casey Conley, Communications with WSDOT to inquire if there are any penalties assessed for the missed deadline or if there's been any cost overuns and will update here once a response is received.
Moderate rain, with a high of 51 and low of 40 degrees. Don't forget your umbrella! Patchy rain nearby during the morning, sunny in the afternoon, overcast in the evening, patchy rain nearby overnight.
The cost and disruption to our community for this project is unnecessary to say the least. Not enough community voice on the necessity of the round about was given and the community meeting wasn’t open to anyone opposing the project.
