The Washington School Recognition Program recognized three Shoreline schools for student growth and achievement during the 2024-25 school year. Only 16% of schools statewide received this distinction.
Cascade K-8 Community School earned recognition for both Growth and Achievement, a combination reflecting strong academic performance and significant year-over-year improvement.
Students at Cascade ranked among Washington’s highest-performing schools in English language arts (ELA) and mathematics and recorded some of the state’s largest gains in ELA, math, and attendance. The growth extended across the school population, including students from low-income families and those receiving special education services.
Highland Terrace Elementary earned a Growth recognition, with particularly strong results among Hispanic and Latino students and students from low-income households.
Highland Terrace’s Hispanic and Latino students ranked in the top 10% of schools statewide for growth in ELA proficiency and attendance. Students from low-income households ranked in the top 10% statewide for growth in ELA proficiency, math proficiency, and math student growth percentiles.
Meridian Park Elementary received Achievement recognition. Its students ranked in the top 20% of schools statewide on the 2025 Washington School Improvement Framework for ELA proficiency, math proficiency, and attendance.
The Washington School Recognition Program highlights schools demonstrating strong student outcomes and progress. The results at Cascade K-8, Highland Terrace and Meridian Park reflect the work of students, educators, staff and families.
The schools were congratulated for their accomplishments and for the dedication of teachers and staff who build relationships with students, provide additional support when needed, and work to help every learner succeed.
