Independent Force Investigation Team Completes Query Of Officer Involved Shooting Incident

The purpose of the Independent Force Investigations Team–King County is to provide a structured and independent investigation for officer-involved incidents where the use of deadly force by a peace officer results in death, substantial bodily harm, or great bodily harm, occurring within the boundaries of the member law enforcement agencies of this agreement. In accordance with RCW 10.114.011, IFIT-KC shall conduct an independent criminal investigation to determine the facts of the incident. The results of the IFIT-KC investigation shall be forwarded to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office (KCPAO) for review at the conclusion of the investigation. The prosecutor’s office, not IFIT-KC, will interpret statutory law as it pertains to the incident and
determine if there were any criminal violations.
