Shoreline, WA – October 24, 2025 — Joseph and Melissa Irons of Irons Brothers Construction joined more than 100 community volunteers and industry professionals on Friday, October 24, for the Green Shoreline x MBAKS “Planting a Better Tomorrow” tree planting event at Paramount School Park in Shoreline’s Ridgecrest neighborhood.
Undeterred by classic Pacific Northwest rain, participants came together with enthusiasm and teamwork to plant 64 new trees along the park’s pedestrian walkways—enhancing the green space and helping create a healthier, more vibrant local environment.
The event, hosted in partnership between the Green Shoreline Partnership and the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties (MBAKS), brought together local residents, city officials, and building industry professionals in a shared mission to strengthen neighborhood livability and environmental sustainability.
Notable attendees included Betsy Robertson, Deputy Mayor of Shoreline; Katie Lorah, Shoreline Parks Board member; and Jerry Hall, Executive Officer of MBAKS—underscoring the strong collaboration between city leadership, industry partners, and community members.

“Community and environmental stewardship are at the heart of what we do,” said Melissa Irons, co-owner of Irons Brothers Construction. “It’s meaningful to contribute not only to remodeling and building homes, but to building a healthier future for the next generation right here in our own neighborhood.”
Joseph and Melissa Irons, longtime Shoreline business owners and residents of the Parkwood neighborhood, have been active community advocates for sustainability and volunteer service.
Through MBAKS’ Planting a Better Tomorrow program, member companies volunteer their time and expertise to foster greener, more resilient communities across the region. The initiative demonstrates how small, local actions—like planting trees—can create lasting, positive impact.
“This event shows what’s possible when people come together, rain or shine, to make a difference,” said Joseph Irons, president of Irons Brothers Construction and MBAKS’ 2016 president. “We’re proud to work alongside our peers, city partners, and neighbors to help plant a better tomorrow for Shoreline.”
