Confirmed: Surveillance Trailer in Front of Ballinger Homes is FLOCK Equipment

LFP Town Crier has obtained agreements between FLOCK Safety and the King County Housing Authority to surveil their publicly assisted housing facilities (attached below).

Instead of opting for a closed-circuit monitoring option, the King County Housing Authority awarded the contract to a controversial surveillance system that is sometimes accessed by law enforcement for unauthorized use, including ICE access. 

Besides surveillance trailers, many cities across the U.S. are starting to install them to track vehicle movements. Recently, the system was used in Yakima to quickly locate a domestic violence homicide suspect who ended up being shot by 14 Yakima officers.

Hundreds of AI-powered automated license plate reading cameras paid for by Lowe’s and Home Depot and stationed in the hardware stores’ parking lots are being fed into a massive surveillance system that law enforcement can access, according to records obtained using a public records request.

We've reached out to the King County Housing Authority president, Robin Walls, to inquire if there's anything in their contract with FLOCK Safety preventing license plate data from being accessed by the national FLOCK Safety database. A section of the contract between FLOCK Safety and the King County Housing Authority states:

The FLOCK license plate reader system has been a point of tension in Mountlake Terrace.  Recently,   a Drug Enforcement Administration agent used a Palos Heights, PD police officer’s password to the Flock automated license plate reader system to search for someone suspected of an “immigration violation.” 

And in Texas, police used a nationwide license plate reader network to track a woman who had self-managed an abortion. FLOCK is also now using AI to report us to the police if it thinks our movement patterns are "suspicious," crossing a dangerous line by beginning to offer anAI suspicion-generation function.
