LFP Police Negotiator Saves The Day

Per Chief Mike Harden, last Tuesday, June 17th, 2025, police responded to "a community member, who was having suicidal thoughts, locked herself in her vehicle [at the 18400 block of 47th Pl NE], and shot herself in the leg." 

"Police officers surrounded the vehicle and evacuated the area. LFPPD negotiator/detective Czebotar called the subject on the phone and convinced her to surrender and go to the hospital. Officers provided first aid to stop the bleeding. An ambulance was called, and the subject was transported to the hospital."

Officers have specialty "Stop The Bleed" training and carry tourniquets and specialty bandages for heavy bleeding scenarios, including gunshot wounds.  You can complete a free Stop The Bleed online course here.
