Join us for an evening of music exploring the dichotomy of peace and conflict. This intense program explores moments of contemplation, chaos, and quiet beauty. The peaceful lines of Leonard Bernstein’s Simple Song and Almighty Father contrast against the conflict in David Del Tredici’s epic In Wartime. Other works include Joseph Schwantner’s atmospheric In evening’s stillness, and Aaron Copland’s pastoral Down a Country Lane. This concert also features the Washington premiere of Stephanie Berg’s We Are Not Birds for chamber winds. We invite you to listen deeply and reflect thoughtfully as we journey through war and peace.
