On October 8, 2021, at approximately 2200 hours, officers were dispatched to a report of a two car, blocking, collision located at the intersection of Ballinger Way NE and 40th PL NE, Lake Forest Park, in King County.
When officers arrived, it appeared two vehicles had collided head-on. One of the drivers stated her arm was hurting and aid was requested. The other driver stated her head hurt and aid was called for an evaluation.
Witnesses stated one of the vehicles was driving at approximately 55mph in a 30mph zone, heading south on 40th PL NE prior to the collision. One witness stated the driver of the white Lexus passed him in a no passing zone.
While the driver was being evaluated by medical personnel, officers were able to smell the odor of intoxicants emanating from her. The driver was unable to give a portable breath test sample on scene. Additional witnesses stated they observed the driver running the stop sign, causing the collision.
Officers applied for a search warrant for the driver’s blood for investigation of DUI and obtained her blood sample at the hospital. Charges in this case are pending the results of the State Toxicology Lab results.
