"As the teacher-librarian at Cascade K-8, I have the unique privilege of interacting with every single student on our campus each week. Working with such a wide age-range gives me the best of both worlds: the magic of early literacy with our youngest learners and the insightful, often hilarious discussions with our middle schoolers.

Because our library is a shared space for our entire student body, I strive to create an accessible, welcoming environment that every student looks forward to visiting. Helping a student find exactly what they need, whether it's a specific book or just a comfortable place to exist, is the best part of the job."

Cascade K-8 Principal Rebbecah Emmanuel shares, "Devon's care in collaborating with students and families to create brave and intentional spaces in our school is something extraordinary. She has worked diligently to ensure that the library collection is curated in a way that reflects our community and provides windows into diverse cultural and racial backgrounds through literature. Devon is a champion for students and can often be seen supporting students during school wide events and extracurricular activities. It is a pleasure to work with Devon Fernandez!"
