The new Town Center owner, Elmsford, N.Y.-based DLC Management Corporation, hired a landscaper to "beautify" the riparian zone running along Lyon's Creek between Starbucks and Chase Bank at the Town Center.
According to Kim Josund, President of the LFP Stewardship Foundation, whose mission is, in part, "To protect the wetlands and watersheds of Lake Forest Park in order to restore salmon habitat and maintain the quality of riparian flora and fauna throughout the City", was notified by an alert citizen that brush clearing, trimming, cutting, etc., was occurring in the protected, sensitive area.
Shortly thereafter, City officials posted a "red tag" stop work order at the site.

According WSU Shore Stewards, "One of the most important functions of riparian vegetation is its ability to control erosion and prevent sediment pollution in the stream. Increased sediment and silt in stream water can clog fishes’ gills, bury their eggs, cover their food sources on the stream bottom, and cloud the water, shading out the sun needed for aquatic life. Vegetation on the shoreline, combined with the meandering curves of the stream or river, helps dissipate stream energy, resulting in less soil erosion and flood damage."
We've reached out to the City for comment and as to why all the parking stalls along this section are blocked off.

Chris - You claim to have tried to reach the Planning Commission vice-Chair and got no response. I have no record of you attempting to contact me. No emails, not even in my Junk folder, no voice mails. Nothing. I am a volunteer. Show some class, correct your statement, or send proof.
Ashton McCartney broke public trust by promising NOT to run to retain the council seat, then waging a write-in campaign to do just that. McCartney does not deserve our trust again.
