Suspect Rams Bothell Canine Unit Then Flees 90mph Through LFP + LFP Resident Holds Burglary Suspect At Gunpoint

LFP Police Chief, Mike Harden, reported that  "Bothell PD was called at 9:03 PM for a possible DUI driver in a red Mazda doing “donuts” and driving erratically in Bothell. The driver eluded Bothell PD officers. Pursuit initiated by Bothell PD. KCSO, Seattle PD, WSP but the suspect drove at 70mph speed S/B on Bothell Way NE and turned W/B at 145th. Unknown if he hit another vehicle as he was trying to avoid apprehension.

He then took I5 S/B. The suspect’s family believed that this incident was intentional, as the suspect wanted Bothell PD to respond and hit them. St. Hellens PD, Oregon, stopped the subject later in the night but couldn’t detain him because of Oregon law. They stated that the subject was going to California." Chief Harden also stated that LFP officers attempted to deploy spike strips but couldn't in time, as the reported speed of the fleeing vehicle was 90mph on Bothell Way, as stated over the air (audio below).

Thanks to LFP resident, Martin Rood, who brought the incident to our attention and stated:

"...police cars were all speeding at a VERY high rate of speed southbound on 522. It was quite alarming. We were on the road. Then a few more went by. There was debris from some collision in front of Taco Bell but no cars."

Cam Johnson, Public Information Officer with Bothell PD stated "When our officers responded, the driver refused to stop and ended up damaging a patrol car in an effort to get away. There were no injuries. Even though the suspect was not detained in Oregon, it’s not over. We know the driver’s identity. It’s likely the driver will face felony charges." When asked why the suspect couldn't be detained in Oregon, the PIO said "That would involve speaking for another law enforcement agency, which we don’t do. We understand and respect that all local law enforcement agencies must work within their own state’s laws."

The 911 radio traffic is below. "HBD" is a term used with the suspicion that a person Has Been Drinking. "RP" means reporting party. "PC" means probable cause. An officer on the recording stated there's "probable cause for assault 2 (ramming a police car), evading, and suspected DUI". The beep tones are used to alert officers of an emergency situation is occurring on the radio channel and not to use the channel except for the situation at hand or another critical emergency.

The LFP gunpoint incident is in the audio clip starting at 11:00 which occurred in the 2900 block of NE 195th St. on 5/19/2025.
