It was yet another chilly night to cap regular season play in a battle on the pitch between rivals Shorecrest and Shorewood in boys' soccer. Based on tonight's match, you'd never guess these two clubs were ranked so far apart, with Shorewood ranked 9th in the state and Shorecrest ranked 79th.
So much for rankings. Shorewood dominated possession and threats on goal, but after each team struck early goals, it became a bit of a slog. Shorecrest created some chances, but Shorewood kept knocking on the door to goaldom. Shorewood's level of play is relatively high as they see and utilize open players, build their attack, switch play, and aren't afraid of the backheel. Shorecrest often didn't see opportunities to feed the ball into space for an overlapping runner and had more errant balls to nowhere. But they held their own.
Despite the remainder of regulation play plus two 5-minute overtime periods, neither team could close the deal. This is a feather in Shorecrest's cap and a reminder about complacency (perhaps) to Shorewood moving forward.
The fire chiefs' taxes paid explanation is correct. He does leave out the Medic One (EMS) levy. What is in error is his claim that the RFA will reduce next year's taxes. The RFA does nothing to reduce taxes.
Moderate or heavy snow showers, with a high of 42 and low of 28 degrees. Overcast during the morning, fog for the afternoon and evening, partly cloudy overnight.
I stand by every statement I made in the NO RFA letter I provided to the Town Crier. First, I was in the room when the Northshore contract discussions were held. There was never any discussion of the contract being a first step towards an RFA.
