BOTHELL – All lanes of southbound Interstate 405 will close the weekend of Oct. 9-12 in Bothell, as crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation continue work on the I-405/Brickyard to SR 527 Improvement Project. People traveling southbound throughout the region should expect heavier traffic and longer travel times on southbound I-5 and through Bothell, as drivers shift their routes during the closure.
Travelers may experience additional congestion Sunday, Oct. 11, when the Seattle Seahawks host the San Francisco 49ers at Lumen Field. Also, through Seattle, northbound I-5 in Seattle is reduced to two lanes across the Ship Canal Bridge until the end of 2026 as part of the Revive I-5 Ship Canal Bridge Preservation project.
Southbound I-405 will close from State Route 527 to SR 522 from 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, to 4 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12. A detour will be in place.
The following ramps also will close:
Crews will work on drainage, pavement reconstruction and bridge repair.
To help ease congestion and delays, people can use transit and park-and-ride options, be flexible about travel times and plan ahead using real-time traffic information. These choices can make a meaningful difference during major closures and help keep both travelers and highway crews safe.
Much of this work requires good weather and may be rescheduled due to rain. Schedule updates will be available on WSDOT’s online Travel Center map, the WSDOT mobile app and the WSDOT Engage page for I-405/SR 167 construction.
