Mayor Announces Closure of 35th Ave NE To Through Traffic

Following discussions with WSDOT, Mayor French has directed public works to close 35th Ave NE between NE 185th Street and NE 182nd Street indefinitely to through traffic, although it will remain open for local access.

Mayor French indicated that action is being taken to address ongoing safety and neighborhood concerns related to the construction zone. The temporary steel roadway plates have caused significant noise impacts on nearby residents and are positioned in a way that allows only one vehicle to pass at a time.

To protect the safety and well-being of residents, visitors, and motorists, these traffic restrictions are necessary.

Rebecca Dickinson has been instrumental in advancing this closure effort, and special thanks go to Mac and the Public Works team for implementing these measures over the weekend.

The school district, emergency responders, and all other relevant agencies will be notified. This remains an evolving situation, and additional updates will be provided as they become available.
